Hj. Abdul Rashid has over 30 years experience in the field of marketing in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, both in the retailing and direct selling sectors. His area of expertise is in brand management. Among the companies he has worked are Unilever, Antah Jardine-Sandilands (Procter & Gamble, Cheseborough-Ponds), Avon Cosmetics, EON (Public listed Automotive distributor), and other locally incorporated companies.
Over these years he has honed his skills and knowledge in brand management and brand building following Unilever, Procter & Gamble’s and Avon marketing format. He has intimate knowledge of the target groups, products’ positioning, advertising and promotional support, pricing strategy, distribution strategy and getting the whole marketing and sales organization to channel their efforts towards a common goal.
Rashid has been consulted on business development and brand building for retail and direct selling businesses. These involved defining the target markets, identifying products, product positioning, negotiation with manufacturers, packaging design, setting prices, setting distribution strategy right up to consumer service. He was appointed as Business Coach for the SMEs (Small, Medium Enterprise) of MARA, a wholly owned business subsidiary of the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development.
Rashid has served as Divisional Manager in EON, a public listed entity, tasked with the distribution and servicing of the locally manufactured car, Proton. As a Principal Officer he was part of the higher management team to continuously seek greater revenue, increased profits in order to maximize shareholders’ return and dividends in compliance with Stock Exchange laws and regulations.
